Newport Area Mutual Aid Hosts FirstNet Presentation

15 August 2016

The outreach team would like to thank the Newport Area Mutual Aid Association for inviting us to their August meeting to give attendees an update on FirstNet. The mutual aid association represents more than 17 organizations in Vermont and Canada. The purpose of mutual aid associations in fire services is to provide backup to other member departments during a fire emergency, share training resources and leverage the greater expertise of the larger group of members.

Members of the Newport Area Mutual Aid Association include the Albany Volunteer Fire Department, Barton Fire Department, Brighton Fire Department, Charleston Fire Department, Craftsbury Fire Department, Derby Line Fire Department, Glover Fire Department, Irasburg Fire Department, Lowell Fire Department, Newark Volunteer Fire Department, Newport City Fire Department, Newport Center Fire Department, North Troy Fire Department, Orleans Fire Department, Troy Fire Department, and Westmore Fire & Rescue. The association also includes several Canadian departments.

The FirstNet project is housed within the Radio Technology Services unit of the Department of Public Safety.
